When the Phone Rings

A "window-showcase couple" who, after three years of a political marriage, have had no communication, no meals, and no conversations, are shattered by a threatening phone call from a kidnapper. They decide to change their status quo and embark on a passionate romance. Baek Sa-yeon (Yoo Yeon-seok) and Hong Hee-joo (Chae Soo-bin) are married for a political marriage. Baek Sa-yeon's father is a presidential candidate, and Hong Hee-joo's stepfather founded the Blue Cloud Daily. To cover up the Baek family's scandals, the two families coexist in a marriage contract, sending Hong Hee-joo to the Baek family as a hostage bride. During a kidnapping attempt, Hong Hee-joo is frustrated when Baek Sa-yeon refuses to negotiate with the kidnappers and demands they kill his wife quickly. Determined to escape this marital prison, she impersonates the kidnapper, fights Baek Sa-yeon, and negotiates a divorce, unfolding a heartbreaking romance.
